Distinctive Angels Need Your Help

Giving back to the communities in which we live and work is the cornerstone of Coldwell Banker Distinctive Properties Distinctive Angels Program. Our agents are constantly looking for ways to make a difference in our community, and after learning some surprising facts about homelessness in our schools, our agents were eager to help.
Did you know there are over 100 homeless students in the Bozeman District and a similar number in the Belgrade District? Many of these are unaccompanied minors, meaning there is no parent or guardian in their lives. Some have aged out of foster care.
The definition of homeless for school district services is a little different. Under the law, a child may qualify as homeless if he/she is:
• Living in an emergency shelter, domestic violence shelter, or transitional housing.
• Living in a motel or hotel due to economic hardship.
• Living in a car, park, campground, public place, bus or train station, abandoned building, or other structure not meant for housing.
• Doubled up with relatives or friends due to a loss of housing, economic hardship, or a similar reason.
Homeless students receive assistance through the school districts through the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, but they are still in need of help from the community.
