Summer Spotlight: Hops & History at MOR

Posted: May 22, 2018 by Step Beyond Media

The Hops & History series at Museum of the Rockies is celebrating its 5th year of combining the rich past of the Gallatin Valley with local brews.

Start off the summer series by testing your beer and history knowledge at the Hops & History: Trivia Brew Party at Montana Ale Works.  Enjoy the evening with beers from Bridger Brewing and little plates from the chefs at Montana Ale Works this Tuesday (May 22nd). Gather together your best trivia buddies to compete for a great host of prizes.  All proceeds from the event go to support Museum of the Rockies Living History Farm. Sign up early at MOR website to secure your table.

Return the following Tuesday and the last Tuesday of every month for the rest of the summer for the Hops & History monthly programs.  Michael Fox, MOR’s Curator of History, will take you through a different topic of brewing history each month. While you learn, sip on the featured brewery of the month.  To make the series even cooler, you’ll receive a reusable mug with your first visit. Just think about all the plastic cups that will be saved with this simple act. The history topic this May will cover early American Brewers from the colonial era to the Civil War and will be hosted by Madison River Brewing Company.  Return in June for MAP Brewery Company pints and to learn all about the difficulties Wild West brewers encountered back in the day. Bozeman Brewing Company will host the July event. Michael Fox will educate you about House Bill 1337 and explain how the craft beer industry as we know it evolved.

Kick off the end of the year with MOR’s grand Hops & History Season Celebration at the Living History Farm.  Round up your trivia friends and come hungry for a variety of local brews and food trucks. Everyone from 406 Brewing Company to Mountains Walking Brewery will be present to participate in the fun.  Again, purchase your tickets early to get your seat at the event. All proceeds will go to sustaining the valuable Living History Farm at MOR.
